The Holly Springs IT Department, GIS Services division is currently seeking an intern. As a GIS Intern, you will be a part of a team of GIS professionals working hand in hand with other Town Departments, to ensure Town Growth & Success.

The internship is expected to run from May 13, 2024- August 10, 2024. The work schedule is flexible business hours up to 20 hrs./week. The starting pay is range is $13-15/hour.

Under the supervision of the GIS Manager, the GIS intern will assist the GIS Analyst and GIS Manager with a variety of GIS related projects.

Essential Duties

• Utilize GIS software to create and edit geospatial data and develop mapping to support a variety of projects for departments such as Development Services, Utilities & Infrastructure, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation.
• Review records and documentation to confirm accurate mapping of the Town’s zoning ordinances.
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with key individuals when guidance/clarification is needed.
• Occasional field data collection.
• Assist with other editing, review, and/or revisions to GIS data as needed.
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online is required to share, store, and present data.
• Able to assist with mapping legal descriptions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Esri Application suite including a working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed an associate’s or bachelor's degree in Geography or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Provide examples of work related to job (maps, coding project, etc.)
